Pork rib salted vegetable soup aka Giam Chye Tng♡ by Doreen Tamjiak

 (Serves 2-3)

*All ingredients are based on estimation. Do adjust them according to your preference.


300-350g pork ribs
handful of salted vegetable (without leaves)
3-4 tomatoes
2 preserved sour plums
2 pcs of dried assam


1. Rinse and soak the salted vegetable for about 15 mins and cut it into smaller pieces.
*Take a small piece and try if the saltiness is ok to your preference.
2. Soak the dried assam for about 15 mins.
3. Cut the tomatoes into quarters.
4. Blanch the pork ribs in a pot. Remove after they are boiled and scum surface.
5. Fill another pot with 3 litres of water.
6. Put all ingredients in.
7. Boil for 10-15 mins and turn to low heat to simmer for 1-2 hours.
Remove oil and scum from the surface around the pot.
