Red Velvet cake by Esther Tho


Recipe for Red Velvet cake
Note : I used 7" cake pan for 2 cakes. Picture shown was a 1 cake 2 layered.

180g butter
130g castor sugar
3 eggs
180g self raising flour
1 tsp of vanilla
2 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp (45ml) of milk
Red colouring
Pinch of salt

1. Cream butter and sugar till fluffy
2. Add vanilla & add egg one at a time till creamy
3. Add in sifted flour, cocao powder & salt by 2 or 3 portion mix well
4. Add in red food colouring
5. Finally add in the milk (you may use beet root juice to replace for Red
Velvet Cake)
6. Mix till well combine.
7. Bake at 180degC for 18-20min for cuppie and 45mins for an whole cake.

Cream Cheese Frosting
1 block of Philadelphia cream cheese (250g)
100-150g icing sugar
50g soften butter
5ml vanilla extract
120ml whip cream

1. Cream the cream cheese and butter till fluffy
2. Cream in the icing sugar
3. Next pour in the whip cream and vanilla extract till all well combine
